Take a breath at ATKV Eiland-Spa

We invited Sharon van Wyk and her lovely family for a visit at ATKV Eiland Spa a few weeks ago. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The family shared their experience at our resort and this is what they have to say:

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to spend a long weekend at ATKV Eiland Spa, just outside Tzaneen in the heart of the Hans Merensky Nature Reserve in Limpopo. We headed out on Friday morning, it is just over a 500km drive, and we wanted to get there early enough to enjoy some time at the pool on Friday afternoon.

We arrived just after 2 pm to a balmy 35 degrees centigrade and so we didn’t even bother getting settled into our 4-6 sleeper rondavel but headed straight to the pool.

The Swimming Pools

The resort has 3 swimming pools, an outdoor cold pool, an outdoor heated pool, and an indoor heated pool, as well as a super tube. The entire area is also laid out so well that my kids literally spent the entire weekend running between the 3 pools and best of all, I didn’t need to be running behind them, thanks to the fantastic, family-centric hospitality.

Other Activities

There are loads of activities to keep the entire family busy, horse riding, putt putt, hiking (although wemanaged to get ourselves lost, thanks to our own stupidity), rugby, tennis, fishing, bowls, trampolines, you name it, the resort has you covered for a few days of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Other Amenities

Not only does the resort have amazing facilities to keep everyone busy, but it also has a fully stocked shop and a well-priced restaurant, which is probably just as well because after spending the Saturday running between the three pools after getting lost on our hike, we headed to the restaurant for an early dinner before crashing early in our rondavel.

The Accommodation

The rondavels, which are available as a 2-4 sleeper or a 4-6 sleeper, are really comfortable, clean and kitted with everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable, most importantly, they are also air-conditioned. I also LOVED that they are well appointed so you don’t feel like you’re staying on top of each other. Also, I loved that the wildlife is fairly comfortable with people and we had a few visitors to our rondavel which made our stay extra special. But if that’s not your vibe, there is also a really great campsite for those of you who like camping or caravanning too

The Verdict

Hannah cried the morning we left and both girls have begged us to take them back. It was such a relaxed weekend away. The resort is perfectly kitted and the hospitality is 5 star to meet your entire families needs and for moms and dads to get in a bit of R&R too.
