Day Visitors (ATKV members only)
The day-visitor policy of the ATKV resorts applies to ATKV members only!
Although ATKV members are given preference when they book at our resorts, the ATKV has long had the policy of making accommodation at the resorts available to everyone (please note that only ATKV members may visit the resorts as day visitors). With the arrival of the new dispensation, the ATKV, on the basis of decisions at various conferences, aligned itself unequivocally with the new dispensation. The ATKV sees itself as an active role-player in the building of new structures for the future, in this way striving to become an indispensable part of an inclusive South Africa that is acceptable to everyone, including its members.
Holidaying is one of the activities most closely connected with the recreational component of culture. This is precisely why the ATKV endeavours to make the holiday experience of the Afrikaans cultural community a pleasurable one.
The holiday pattern is aimed at the family and focuses on aspects such as family entertainment, safety, a peaceful holiday environment and holiday-goers who respect and complement one another’s needs.
To ensure a pleasant holiday experience, the resorts have certain rules, which include the following:
- A limited number of day visitors
- Silence after 23:00
- No alcohol at the swimming pools
- No drunkenness
- Acknowledgement of the dignity of every person who visits the resort as a paying guest
- No buses with visitors who do not make prior arrangements.
These rules apply to ensure an environment in which all visitors can relax and enjoy themselves. In this way, every visitor is afforded the opportunity to experience the surroundings and the entertainment on offer. Individuals or groups who break the rules once or twice are therefore warned, after which drastic action is taken; this may include eviction from the resorts.
To ensure that the presence of day visitors to ATKV resorts does not interfere with the residential guests’ enjoyment of their experience, prior arrangements should be made with the resorts for entry as a day visitor. This is particularly important during school holidays and long weekends. Because the recreational facilities are in such great demand over long weekends and the school holidays in April and December, only a limited number of vehicles are allowed entry to each resort.
At ATKV Klein-Kariba, 50 vehicles per day are allowed and at ATKV Goudini Spa and ATKV Buffelspoort, 30 vehicles per day are allowed. At ATKV Natalia, no extra visitors are allowed over these periods because of limited parking space at the resort.
All visitors are treated equally but members are given preference when they book. A main member should be present when such a booking is made. A consistent policy is followed in respect of the acceptance of bookings and any person who does not respect the dignity of other visitors and objects to their presence is refunded and asked to leave the resort.
Day visitors may visit the resorts every day from 08:00 to 18:00. Measures have been increased to ensure that day visitors adhere to these times, unless other arrangements are made with the management of the resort concerned.
